LIPOFILLING OR FAT TRANSPLANTATION

Fat transplantation or lipofilling is one of the latest techniques in cosmetic surgery which consists in extracting fat from areas of the body where there is excess fat and infiltrating it into the areas that require augmentation or remodelling.

Dr. Pérez de la Romana is a pioneer of this technique in Spain, using it to reshape all parts of the face and body.

Lipofilling is a sought-after technique that allows patients to benefit from two procedures in one, removing all left-over fat and correcting areas that need relief. It leaves no scars, is painless and gets very natural results.

Face lipofilling

On the face, the areas where we perform this procedure most are around the eyes, on the cheeks, around the mouth and on the jaw line. We often combine this procedure with the facelift, producing a more perfect and natural-looking facial rejuvenation. This technique is called lipolifting.

Fat is taken from areas where there is excess fat, such as the hips, abdomen and thighs.

Breast lipofilling

The breast area is another area where this technique is used most, to give volume and symmetry. However, silicone prostheses are still the most widely-used technique in breast augmentation and, rather often we combine both techniques to refine the results.

Gluteal lipofilling

The gluteal region is very suitable for this technique, achieving spectacular results by combining liposuction in areas around the gluteal muscles, lifting the gluteal region.

With regards to the legs, we remove fat from areas where there is excess fat and fully remodel the legs with lipofilling, achieving beautiful, stylised legs.

What are the advantages of having fat injected into the face?

Fat is the best material to fill in the face, for several reasons: first, we can increase the volume we want; second, the face will not reject the fat (since it comes from the same body); and third, it revitalises facial tissue through the stem cells.

Is the infiltration of fat long-lasting?

Fat injected can last for periods that vary from one person to another. If there is no change in weight, it tends to last for many years. At any rate, it is more durable than other filling materials that exist.

How long will I need to recover from a face lipofilling procedure?

Usually, there is a very slight swelling of the face. The patient is fully recovered after three or four days, and can resume their normal day-to-day activities.

Is the face lipofilling procedure painful?

No, it is not painful at all. It is performed as an outpatient procedure and the patient can go home a few hours after it has been completed.

Is lipofilling suitable for the whole body?

It can be for the face that is where we recommend it for the positive effects of rejuvenation of the skin, but also we use it equally for the increase of the breasts, gluteal augmentation and for any defect that can be filled in the body.

Can legs be modified with lipofilling?

Yes. We often use the body fat of the patient to treat very thin or bowed legs, achieving very good results in the process.
