WITH A CHANGE OF BREAST PROSTHESES THE BAD RESULTS CAN HAVE A SOLUTION.

It is becoming increasingly common to see patients who have been treated by surgeons without official qualifications in plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgery, making it more likely that the results of surgery will be poor and patients unsatisfied.

Other patients have been operated on with techniques or old prostheses with which it is not possible to achieve current standards of beauty.

The passage of time and physical activity influence the aging of breast implants (as does the movement of the same, in some cases), producing a poor outcome from an aesthetic perspective.

Simple or complicated surgical procedures

It is always more difficult to correct a breast that has already been operated on than one that is being operated on for the first time. Often we do not have information on the first surgical procedure and we encounter unwanted internal or external scarring.

Whatever the starting point is, at the Instituto Pérez de la Romana we put all of our tools and expertise at your disposal to get the results you have always wanted.

HIGH SATISFACTION FOLLOWING A SECOND SURGICAL PROCEDURE

This is a surgical procedure that gives rise to great satisfaction among patients, given that they are very concerned by the problem they present and believe that there is no solution to this problem.

98% of our patients have said that they are satisfied with the surgery we provide.

REPLACEMENT OF BREAST PROSTHESES

Many patients come to us to have breast implants replaced. The most common reasons for breast implant replacements are:

  • A rupture in the silicone implant.
The age of the implant can manifest itself as a rupture or as creases. In both cases the implant must be replaced, but when there is a rupture the procedure involved is more complex and a capsulectomy (a procedure whereby the existing silicon and the capsule that envelopes the prosthesis are removed) must be carried out.
  • A result that is unsatisfactory in terms of volume, i.e. the patient wants more or less volume, or if the prosthesis is not the desired shape. This procedure tends to be more simple and consists of simply changing implants for other implants that are more suitable.
  • Capsular contracture (encapsulation): If the patient experiences pain or a change in shape years after the first surgery. The treatment consists of eliminating the internal capsule that causes the discomfort and the replacement of the prosthesis with new ones.
  • A sagging of the skin: With aging and gravity, the skin sags and the breast falls, resulting in a need for breast lift. In this case it will be necessary to remove the skin and the sagging gland and place a new prosthesis in the submuscular space (mastopexy with new prostheses).
  • Movement of the prosthesis: If the prosthesis has been moved due to accidental causes or as a result of the poor design of the prosthetic pocket in the original surgery, or as a result of significant weight loss. In these cases, the implants may be very close together or very far apart, or one higher or lower than the other. These cases always require surgery with a change of prosthesis and the symmetrisation of the same.
  • The lipofilling or lipotransfer of own fat of the breasts is a very suitable technique for most of the complications that we have mentioned. Sometimes, it is performed independently, while at other times it is performed to improve the shape of the implants.

FINAL WITHDRAWAL OF BREAST PROSTHESIS

A small percentage of patients decide to permanently remove their breast prostheses due to a psychological rejection of the same, a desire to eliminate non-natural material or age-related issues.

IF YOU WISH TO HAVE YOUR IMPLANTS PERMANENTLY REMOVED, WE CAN HELP SO THAT THE SUBSEQUENT AESTHETIC RESULT IS NATURAL.

WITH YOUR OWN TISSUE

A breast can be redone with your own tissue with acceptable aesthetic results. If you wish, ask your surgeon for this option. Existing breast tissue must be analysed and used to reshape the breast, although fat grafting using the fat of the patient is the best option for filling the breast.

FAQS ABOUT BREAST IMPLANTS CHANGE

Apart from a rupture in the implants, why else should I change my implants?

Although ruptures are very rare, they are the most important reason for changing prostheses. We also recommend you to change them in case of  encapsulation: you will notice that it has hardened the breast and it can sometimes cause discomfort. In general, this occurs when the prosthesis has shifted from its original position.

When can I return to work after the replacing of my prosthesis ?

Exactly as you did after the first operation: a week if the job is not hard, or two weeks if the job requires more mobility in the arms.

Can I change the prostheses because I simply want them bigger?

Of course, this is one of the most frequent reasons given for changing prostheses: to achieve greater volume as long as their tissue allows it.

FAQS ABOUT BREAST IMPLANTS WITHDRAWAL

The prostheses have been encapsulated several times. Can I remove them permanently? How will the breasts look afterwards?

Once the prostheses are removed, if the patient does not want to put prostheses back in again it can be helped with an implant of fat from the patient (lipofilling) and, at times, remodeling the skin of the breasts with a mastopexy.

When will I be able to resume my employment?

In one or two weeks, depending on the effort required at work.
