Blepharoplasty (the rejuvenation of the eyelids) consists of the removal of excess skin and fatty deposits that appear under the eyelids.
The important thing about this procedure is that it eliminates the sensation of fatigue. As a result, it is very suitable for middle-aged men, who dont want to be told in the morning that they look tired because of the aspect of their eyelids.
As we mentioned in the section on female eyelid surgery, this procedure is performed using local anesthetic and sedation and acts on both sets of upper or lower eyelids, depending on the excess skin and fat on each eyelid.
In the upper eyelid, the incision is made right in the crease and it does not leave any type of scar. In the lower eyelid the incision can be done under the eyelashes or inside the conjunctiva (transconjuntival). None of these approaches leaves a visible scar around the eye.
It takes two hours to perform the operation, and the patient can come back home about two hours after the prosedure. Recovery from this intervention takes approximately 3 to 7 days, and you will be able to resume your day-to-day activities a week after.
For the fastest recovery, the patient must adopt all measures and follow the advice provided by the aesthetic surgery team at the Instituto Perez de la Romana, such as raising the head, use the eye drops and ointments needed during the first week. At the end of the week, the patient can return to their everyday routine.
The results are spectacular, and the patient has a totally rejuvenated look.

We normally use local anesthetic and sedation, which allows the patient to return home an hour or two after the procedure.
Usually, the result is permanent. However, in some cases when the patient has very loose skin, a second skin removal may be required.
After the procedure, a few plasters on the incisions are left for the first week. Once they have been removed, you will be able to resume your normal routine.
Under normal circumstances, you will be able to resume sporting activity within the first month.
